Painter of people and memory, holding what passes in paint
In my portraits, I seek to portray the person beneath the surface. Through paint, I aim to capture both a likeness and something of their presence, creating a portrait that feels personal and alive. I’m drawn to the small things that make someone unmistakably themselves - a thoughtful gaze, a familiar tilt of the head, an unguarded expression.
Whether painting a child, a partner or several generations together, I want to make something you will treasure: a painting that holds the character of someone you love or a relationship or memory that you cherish. Rather than striving for photographic precision, I focus on creating a sense of closeness and atmosphere that invites the viewer to pause and engage.

Process
Commissioning a work can feel daunting but in practice it is a fun, creative and exciting collaboration!

Contact me for a chat, communication is key and we can discuss what you want from the painting. Don’t worry if your ideas are vague, this is a collaboration and I am happy to lead the way.

Either arrange a sitting during which I will take photographs and/or make studies from which to create the final painting, or provide me with a digital photograph. I work regularly from both. If providing a photograph this needs to be a clear, high resolution digital image - preferably no beauty filters or selfies.

The painting will take approximately three to six months to be completed. This involves drying time, varnishing and delivery. Framing can also be provided at an additional cost. If required paintings can sometimes be delivered to a shorter deadline by prior arrangement. If the painting is a gift i can also provide a gift certificate in anticipation of the finished piece. Delivery or collection of the painting can be arranged by prior notice.
